Community Guide
Welcome to Rock Nation
Rock Nation is the community space for followers of Mikerock and The Mikerock Show. This is where we come together to talk, ask questions, share ideas, challenge narratives, and have real conversations without the noise of regular social media.
This guide will help you get started, find the right spaces, join conversations, and use the community features.
1. Start With the Main Feed
The main feed is the first place to check when you log in. This is where you can see recent activity, posts, comments, and updates from the spaces you have access to. FluentCommunity’s Global Activity Feed is designed to show members recent posts, comments, reactions, and updates from public and joined spaces in one central place.
Use the feed to:
- See what members are talking about
- Catch up on new posts
- Reply to recent discussions
- React to posts you agree with or appreciate
- Find trending conversations
2. Use Spaces to Find the Right Conversations
Spaces are the different group areas inside Rock Nation. Think of each space like its own room with its own topic. FluentCommunity uses Spaces for focused discussions, collaboration, and networking inside a community.
Some spaces you may see inside Rock Nation include:
Start Here
Begin here when you are new. This space will help you understand how Rock Nation works, where to go, and how to find answers.
Say Hello
Introduce yourself to the community. Tell us who you are, where you are from, what brought you here, and what topics you care about.
Ask Me Anything
Ask Mikerock questions directly. These can be about politics, culture, fatherhood, current events, the show, or anything else members want to discuss.
The American Party
This space is for conversations around The American Party idea: people over political alliances, common sense over team politics, and the needs of the country over party loyalty.
Book Club
This is where members discuss the monthly book selection, follow weekly reading posts, and join conversations about the ideas in the book.
3. Complete Your Profile
Your profile helps other members know who they are talking to. To edit your profile, FluentCommunity says members can click their profile dropdown in the top-right corner, select their name, and use the Edit Profile button. Members can update profile photos, cover photos, personal details, social links, posts, spaces, comments, and notification settings.
A good profile helps the community feel more personal. Add a photo, write a short bio, and share anything you are comfortable sharing.
4. Create a Post
Posts are how you start conversations inside Rock Nation. You can post thoughts, questions, updates, images, links, or polls. FluentCommunity’s post guide says members can post from the Global Feed by selecting a Space, or they can go directly into a specific Space and create a post there.
To create a post:
- Go to the main feed or the space where your topic belongs.
- Click the Create Post box.
- Write your message.
- Add an image, video, link, poll, hashtag, or mention if needed.
- Choose the correct space.
- Click Post.
Use the right space whenever possible. That keeps Rock Nation organized and helps members find the conversations they care about.
5. Comment, Reply, and React
You do not have to create full posts to participate. Sometimes the best way to join is by commenting on someone else’s post.
You can comment under a post, reply to another member’s comment, and react to posts or comments. FluentCommunity also allows members to report comments, edit comments, delete comments, and sort larger comment sections by latest, popular, earliest, or most replied.
Use comments to:
- Add your opinion
- Ask a follow-up question
- Challenge an idea respectfully
- Share a resource
- Keep a conversation going
6. Use Mentions and Hashtags
Mentions and hashtags help organize conversations. FluentCommunity supports member mentions using the “@” symbol and hashtags inside posts.
Use @mentions when you want to bring someone into a conversation.
Use hashtags when you want to connect your post to a larger topic, such as:
#AmericanParty
#BookClub
#AskMikerock
#CommonSense
#Fatherhood
#Politics
#RockNation
7. Create or Answer Polls
Polls are a quick way to get feedback from the community. FluentCommunity allows polls from the Global Feed or from a specific Space, with options for poll topics, multiple answers, end dates, and choosing which space the poll belongs in.
Polls are useful for:
- Asking members what they think
- Voting on book club ideas
- Getting feedback on show topics
- Seeing where the community stands on an issue
- Creating easy engagement
8. Use Search When You Need Answers
Before asking a question, use the search feature to see if it has already been answered. FluentCommunity describes search as a way to search across community components, including content, users, groups, and discussions.
Search can help you find:
- Previous posts
- Topics
- Spaces
- Members
- Book club discussions
- Questions already answered by Mikerock
9. Save Important Posts With Bookmarks
When you find a post you want to come back to, bookmark it. FluentCommunity includes a bookmark feature that lets members save important content and return to it later.
Bookmark posts that include:
- Important announcements
- Book club links
- Helpful explanations
- Rules and guidelines
- Strong discussions you want to revisit
10. Check Notifications
Notifications help you stay caught up when someone replies to you, reacts to your post, mentions you, or when there is important activity in the community. FluentCommunity includes real-time notifications and profile notification settings so members can control how they stay informed.
Check notifications regularly so you do not miss replies or updates.
11. Use Chat for Private Conversations
Rock Nation may include member-to-member chat. FluentCommunity includes built-in chat functionality for private conversations, and its real-time chat feature allows messages to appear instantly without refreshing the page when enabled.
Use chat for respectful private conversations, quick questions, and one-on-one connections with other members.
12. Check the Leaderboard
The leaderboard highlights active members and top contributors. FluentCommunity describes the leaderboard as a way to rank members based on engagement and activity, helping recognize participation inside the community.
The goal is not to turn everything into a contest. The goal is to encourage members to show up, contribute, and help build the community.
13. Basic Community Etiquette
Rock Nation is built for real conversations, but real conversations still need respect.
A few simple rules:
- Attack ideas, not people.
- Bring arguments, not insults.
- Do not spam the same post everywhere.
- Keep topics in the correct space.
- Do not post private information about other people.
- Disagree like an adult.
- Report problems instead of escalating them.
- Remember that the goal is better conversations, not team-sport politics.
14. Best First Steps for New Members
If you are new, start here:
- Read the Start Here space.
- Complete your profile.
- Introduce yourself in Say Hello.
- Join or follow the spaces that interest you.
- Comment on at least one post.
- Ask a question in Ask Me Anything.
